Twinkle Twinkle We’re All Stars

“Twinkle twinkle we are stars
No need to wonder,
our light shines near and far.
Yes, each a diamond in the sky, so as above it is below.
Twinkle twinkle, sparkle now, for we are Omni, one light, one love.”

I started using dots early on in my art-story telling.  Mostly because I believed or thought that stars are such a universal symbol with multi meanings that can aid in creating the layers of my art pieces; both texture, value, and richness with paint, but also placement, depth, and size with intention and sometimes without any goal at all.

Guidance, remembrance, destiny, ascension, karma, and soul contracts are all cross global meanings associated with Stars. Many artists have and still paint, draw, sing about, write about, and photograph the mystery, magic, and magnificence of the stars.

I use the stars to translate my own perception of motion while remembering and reminding myself and anyone else that perception is a magical and precious tool of creation. In this space each person that sees the dots and how they play on various canvases creates and imagines their own art story with and as the artist.

Over the years I have incorporated pointillism, a practice in which distinct dots of color merge and combine into images when perceived from a distance. This method adds a demonstrative texture and visual sequence, emphasizing the effort, patience, and meditative state involved in each creation.

It is our love that the stars call out to us, from within us.  And yes, even the descended stars innately allow beauty to shine.  We believe stars can be observed as the soul(s) of the sky that give meaning and orientation for all who dare to look up and see.

What do you see, feel, think, hear, taste, or smell when you are outside gazing upon the stars?

Did Ya Know?

“Synesthesia” blends senses…:

Vision & Color

  • Grapheme-Color: Letters and numbers appear in specific colors (e.g., 'A' is red).

  • Chromesthesia (Sound-to-Color): Hearing sounds, music, or voices triggers seeing colors or shapes.

  • Visio-Spatial: Numbers, dates, or concepts like days of the week are seen as occupying specific locations in space.

Hearing & Sound

  • Chromesthesia: Sounds create visual colors (as above).

  • Auditory-Tactile: Sounds cause physical sensations, like feeling a touch or texture.

  • Hearing-Motion: Sounds make things appear to move.

Taste & Touch

  • Lexical-Gustatory: Hearing or reading words triggers specific tastes (e.g., the word "milk" tastes like chalk).

  • Taste-Color: Certain tastes evoke specific colors.

  • Mirror-Touch: Feeling a touch or pain on your own body when you see it happen to someone else.

Smell & Other Senses

  • Smell-Color/Shape: Smelling something triggers seeing colors or shapes.

  • Conceptual Synesthesia: Abstract ideas (like math) are perceived as shapes or textures.

Key Characteristics

  • Involuntary: The blended sensations happen automatically.

  • Consistent: The pairings (e.g., a specific sound always creates the same color) remain the same over time.

  • Not a Disorder: It's a neurological variation, not an illness.
